Price check
Answer "how much is this, and is it in stock?" without touching the sale: Price check shows the real price, the quantity total and stock at each location.

Price check in Bitta Retail POS answers "how much is this, and is it in stock?" without changing the sale. While the Price check button beside the scan box is armed, every scan or tile tap opens a read-only card with the price, a quantity total and stock by location. The price comes from the same calculation that adding the item to the cart uses, so what the card shows is what the cart would charge.
Prerequisites
- The
BAA POS - Userpermission set and a signed-in register. See POS user permissions. - The Price Check switch turned on in the terminal's register profile, and Disable Price Check left off on the terminal. The demo registers are set up this way. See Turn Price Check on or off.
Check a price
- Tap Price check beside the scan box so the button shows as pressed, then scan the item or tap its tile. The price check card opens. In the demo company, scan

- Use - and + to change the quantity. Each step asks the server for a new quote for that quantity, so a Business Central quantity price break changes the unit price and the total as you step.
- Choose Add to Sale to put the item in the cart at the quantity on the card, or Done (or Escape) to close the card without touching the cart. Add to Sale also turns Price check off, so the next scan sells.
TIP
The scan box keeps focus while the card is open, so you can scan item after item: each new scan replaces the card. Tap Price check again to go back to selling without adding anything.
What the card shows
- Price. The price for this sale. When a discount applies, the shelf price follows in brackets, marked "was".
- Tax hint. "Prices exclude tax." or "Prices include tax.", depending on how the sale is priced.
- Quantity and total. The quantity stepper and the line total for that quantity.
- Stock by location. Available stock at each location, with the store's own location listed first. A location Business Central does not track shows Not tracked.
For a POS item that is not mapped to a Business Central item, the card shows the price and "Availability is not tracked for this item." If the company has no locations, it shows "No stock locations exist yet."
Stock figures are advice only: they never block a sale at the register. See Stock availability.
Pricing context
The card is quoted against the open sale, with its customer and pricing, for the variant and unit of measure of the scanned barcode. When the item is already in the cart, the total is what adding this quantity would add to the basket.
A weighted or price-embedded barcode keeps the quantity or price from the barcode, so the stepper is locked for it. Variant items follow the same rules as an item-level scan: a mandatory-variant item needs its variant barcode, and the default variant is used where one is set. See Sell item variants.
Turn Price Check on or off
Price check needs two settings to agree, and an administrator controls both:
- Register profile: the Price Check switch in the Customer Service group of the POS Register Profile Card. The Standard Checkout and Order and Fulfillment templates create profiles with it on.
- Terminal: Disable Price Check on POS Terminals. Turn it on for a till where showing stock levels is unwanted, for example a customer-facing self-checkout. The server re-checks this setting on every price check, so a hidden button cannot be bypassed.
