Bitta Retail POS guide

Customers and loyalty at the register

Attach a customer, read the Customer 360 panel, and run loyalty at the till: auto-enrollment, the loyalty balance display, earning, and redeeming Value and Item Rewards on the Tender screen.

This page covers the customer side of the register: attaching a customer to a sale, the at-a-glance Customer 360 panel, and how loyalty enrollment, earning, and redemption work at the till. Program setup, rules, and balance administration live in Loyalty program administration.

POS customers

Bitta Retail POS keeps its own POS customer catalog, which can optionally map to a Business Central customer. Mapping is what unlocks AR features - On-account charges, credit limits, and the customer's BC document history - while an unmapped POS customer still works for walk-in identity, receipts, and loyalty. When no customer is attached, the sale uses the walk-in cash customer configured in POS Setup. The Loyalty Card No. on the customer is the identity used for loyalty enrollment.

Attaching a customer to a sale

  1. Tap Customer on the register. A touch-first lookup shows active, unblocked customers, with a quick-create option for someone new.
  2. Search or pick the customer, or quick-create one inline.
  3. The sale now carries the customer, and the status bar shows the customer chip.

Attaching a real customer is required before an on-account charge and before any loyalty earning or redemption on the sale.

Customer 360 panel

Tap the status-bar customer chip (shown only when a real, non-walk-in customer is attached) to open a read-only, at-a-glance panel built fresh from live data:

Section Shows Requires BC mapping?
Identity Name, phone, loyalty card number No
Credit / AR Credit limit and current balance Yes
Open documents Outstanding BC sales orders and quotes (counts only) Yes
Lifetime stats Sales count and totals No
Recent purchases Last 10 completed sales; tap a row to expand its lines No
Notes Free-text customer notes No

The panel is read-only by design and sits under the lock screen, so a locked register cannot leak customer data. Credit/AR and open-document sections are blank for an unmapped POS customer.

Loyalty at the register

Bitta Retail POS runs a governed, multi-program loyalty model: a customer can hold memberships in several programs at once - Points, Visit/Stamp, Cashback, and Tier programs - each with its own rules and balances. All of that is configured centrally; at the register you mostly just attach the customer and let the server do the math.

Enrollment and the loyalty chip

Selecting a customer can auto-enroll them into eligible active programs (programs configured with automatic enrollment on customer selection); enrollment is idempotent, so re-selecting the same customer never creates duplicates. Once a member is attached, the register's loyalty display shows their active memberships, usable units and value, any outstanding debt, current tier, and the next expiry date. Adding or removing items refreshes the projection immediately.

Earning

Earning is calculated server-side from the program rules and is finalized atomically when the sale completes - there is nothing for you to key in. Tier members can also receive approved price or discount benefits and earn multipliers automatically on qualifying sales.

Redeeming

Redemption happens on the Tender screen and comes in two forms:

  1. Value redemption - when the member has redeemable value (from Points, Visit/Stamp value rewards, or Cashback), the Tender screen shows a server-calculated redemption choice. Accepting it applies the value as its own internal Voucher payment line alongside whatever else the customer pays with - cash, card, or on account. It never converts a manually entered voucher line.
  2. Item Rewards - when the member has earned a free or reward item (typically from a Visit/Stamp program), the Tender screen offers the exact earned reward. Selecting it adds a protected reward line for the mapped item, with standard Business Central posting owning inventory and cost behind the scenes.

NOTE

Redemption choices are server-owned: the register only offers what the member's governed balance actually supports, so you cannot over-redeem, and split payments with loyalty plus any other tender work normally.

Loyalty on receipts and returns

The normal receipt carries the frozen earn and redemption detail for the sale; a gift receipt deliberately omits all loyalty information. Returns reverse loyalty exactly and incrementally: only the earning attributable to the returned quantity is reversed, redeemed value is restored precisely, and repeating or completing a partial return never double-counts. If a customer already spent earning that is later returned, the balance carries a debt that future earning repays first. See Returns and refunds for the return flow itself.

TIP

If a member asks "what is my balance?", tap the customer chip or read the loyalty display - it shows usable value, tier, and the next expiry without leaving the sale.
