Print shelf labels

Print shelf, price and barcode labels for your POS items from Business Central: filter by category or item, set labels per item, and print Code 128 barcodes.

The POS Item Labels report prints shelf, price and barcode labels for your Bitta Retail POS items straight from Business Central. You choose which POS items to print, how many labels each item gets, and send the result to a label printer or a PDF. Use it when you add new items, change prices, or open a new store.

Prerequisites

The BAA POS - Admin or BAA POS - Full permission set. BAA POS - User and BAA POS - Supervisor do not include the report.
POS items with a Unit Price and, ideally, a Barcode. See Item catalog setup and Barcode setup.
A printer that can take 2.25 x 1 inch labels, or a PDF viewer to check the output first.

Print labels

Search for POS Item Labels and open it. You can also choose Item Labels in the Catalog section of the POS administrator role center, or in the Operations group of the POS Report Center.

On the request page, set the filters and options:
- Labels Per Item (in Options): how many copies of each item's label to print, for example one per shelf facing. The default is 1 and the minimum is 1.
- Under the POS Item filter, use POS Category Code to print one category, POS Item No. for one item or a range, and Active to skip inactive items. You can also add a filter on any other POS item field in the same section.

Preview the labels to check them, then print them to your label printer.

What a label shows

Each label is 2.25 x 1 inch and shows, from top to bottom:

the item Description;
the item Unit Price, formatted as currency;
a Code 128 barcode of the item's Barcode field, or of the POS Item No. when the item has no barcode, so every item can be labeled before barcodes are assigned;
the POS Item No. as text.

Items print in POS Item No. order, and each item's labels print one after the other.

NOTE

The label prints the Unit Price stored on the POS item. Pricing profiles, customer prices and promotions applied at the register are not reflected. If you run Dual Pricing or Cash Discount, the printed price is the shelf (card) price. See Dual pricing and surcharges.

Tips for label printing

The barcode is encoded with the Business Central barcode font provider (IDAutomation, Code 128).
Print one test label first and scan it with the register scanner to confirm your printer resolution keeps the barcode readable. See Barcode scanning.
To reprint after a price change, filter on the items you changed rather than the whole category.

TIP

Send this report to a dedicated label printer, so labels never go to a receipt or office printer by mistake.
