Your first sale

Your first sale takes about a minute: ring one item, take exact cash, and hand over the receipt. This page walks that shortest path so you can see the whole flow work before learning anything else.

Before you ring

You need a store, a terminal, and at least one sellable item - if your administrator has finished setup, all of that is already in place. If your company requires PIN sign-in, you also need your POS User number and PIN. If it requires an open shift, open one first and enter your starting float - see Shifts.

Ring the sale

1. Open POS Register (search POS Register in Tell Me, or use the Register action on your Role Center). Pick your store and terminal if prompted.
2. If the PIN screen appears, enter your POS User No. and PIN. Wrong entries are limited, so type carefully.
3. Add one item: tap its tile, scan its barcode, or find it with the search box. The line appears in the cart with quantity 1.
4. Choose Pay. On the tender screen, tap Cash, then the exact-cash button - it tenders precisely the amount due, so change is 0.00.
5. The sale completes and the register clears for the next customer.

Print or skip the receipt

Depending on how printing is configured, the receipt prints silently to the receipt printer or a browser print dialog opens. If the customer does not want a receipt, you can close the print dialog or leave the printed copy - the sale is already saved either way, and a receipt can be reprinted later from the sale. What just happened

The sale is now completed and waits with the day's other sales for posting. At close, a manager runs End of Day, which posts the sales into Business Central as real Sales Invoices - nothing more is needed from you at the register. See End of day if you are curious.
