Gift receipts
Print a price-free gift receipt for the last completed sale in one tap: what is hidden, the Ref number that enables returns, printing gift receipts for older sales, and reprints.

A gift receipt is the same sale printed without prices - descriptions and quantities only - so the recipient can make a return without seeing what was paid. Printing one is a single tap at the register.
Printing a gift receipt
- Complete the sale as normal.
- Tap Gift Receipt in the recovery row. The gift receipt prints on the terminal's configured transport; on browser-printing terminals the job is queued and pushed to the browser immediately.
The button targets this terminal's last completed sale - Released or Posted, most recent first - never the in-progress cart. It stays enabled even on an empty cart, because a customer asking for a gift copy right after paying is independent of whatever you are ringing next.
On a terminal with no completed sale yet, an inline alert explains ("No completed sale was found for this terminal yet...") - never a dialog, so scanning is not interrupted.
TIP
Gift Receipt sits next to Reprint, which prints a normal priced copy of the same last sale. Same target, different rendering.
What is hidden
The gift rendering strips every price-bearing fact:
- No unit prices, line amounts, totals, tax, or tender lines.
- No customer loyalty information.
What remains: the item descriptions and quantities, a GIFT RECEIPT banner, and the sale's document number printed as Ref: - which is exactly what the store needs to look the sale up for a later return. See Returns and refunds.
NOTE
A gift receipt is a receipt mode, not a different document. It is rendered price-less server-side from the same frozen receipt snapshot as the normal receipt, so a gift copy printed days later still matches the original sale exactly.
Gift receipts for older sales
The register button only reaches the last completed sale. For anything earlier:
- At the register, open the status bar's Sales list, pick the sale, and use its card actions.
- In the back office, use Print Gift Receipt on the POS Sales list or card - it works for both released and posted sales.
Reprints
Gift receipts go through the same durable print pipeline as normal receipts, so a failed print can be recovered from the print queue and a fresh copy can be printed again at any time from the sale's card. See Receipts at the register for the queue and transport behavior.
Availability
Gift receipt output is a register-profile capability: when it is disabled for a role, the button is absent from the register and the server refuses gift output requests regardless of what the browser sends. It requires a completed sale and a working receipt destination. If the button is missing on a profile that should have it, ask your administrator to check the register profile's Gift Receipt setting.
