Actions

  • Assisted Setup opens the setup guide. See Get started.
  • Commission Line Rules decides which kinds of sales lines earn. See What earns commission.
  • Schedule Release Job creates a job queue entry that runs every 30 minutes and makes commission payable after customers pay. See Release commission.
  • Track Setup Changes turns on the Business Central change log for every commission setup table, so you can see who changed a plan or a rate, and when.
  • Create Demo Data is available in evaluation companies outside production.

Commission periods

Search for Commission Periods. A period has a Period Length (Month, Quarter, Year or Custom), dates and a name. A closed period blocks journal lines, reversals, reassignments, recalculations and settlements dated inside it. It does not block sales posting. Periods are also where period commission is paid. See Period close and tiers.

Permission sets

Permission set For
Commission - Admin Commission managers who set up plans, and settle and correct commission.
Commission - Sales Salespeople who maintain credits on sales documents and view commission.
Commission - View Read-only users, such as auditors.

Users who only post sales need no commission permission set.

Check your setup

Run the Commission Setup Check report. It lists gaps as of the work date: missing number series, plans without components or rate lines, assignments to blocked plans, salespeople without a main plan or vendor, missing periods and a missing release job.
