Share commission between salespeople
Split and overlay credits, line salespeople and credit rules that add salespeople automatically.
updated: applies-to: 2.0.0.0
More than one salesperson can earn on a sale. Give extra salespeople a commission credit on the document or on a line, or let a credit rule add them automatically.
Who earns on a line
- The main salesperson is the line's Line Salesperson Code when it is filled, otherwise the document's Salesperson Code.
- Commission credits add more people. A line with its own credits ignores the document's credits.
- Each person is paid by their own plans.
Add a credit
- On the sales document, choose Commission, then Commission Credits for the whole document. To credit one line, choose Commission Credits on the line.
- Add a line for each extra salesperson:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Salesperson Code | Who earns. |
| Credit Type | Split takes a share of the main salesperson's base. Overlay earns on top, and the main salesperson keeps 100%. |
| Credit % | The share of the base this person earns on. |
| Rate % | Replaces this person's plan rate on this document, for components that allow a rate override. 0 uses the plan. |
A 30% split on one line. Add an overlay the same way, with Credit Type Overlay.
Rules:
- Split credits on one line add up to 100% at most. The main salesperson keeps the rest.
- The same salesperson cannot have two credits of the same type on one line.
Example with three people
An invoice line of 10,000.00. Document salesperson MAYA. Credits: DANIEL Split 30%, and PRIYA, the sales manager, Overlay 100% at Rate % 1. Maya and Daniel are on a 5% plan.
| Person | Role | Base | Rate | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MAYA | Main salesperson | 7,000.00 | 5% | 350.00 |
| DANIEL | Split | 3,000.00 | 5% | 150.00 |
| PRIYA | Overlay | 10,000.00 | 1% | 100.00 |
Maya and Daniel together earn what Maya alone would have earned. Priya's 100.00 is extra.
Add salespeople automatically with credit rules
Search for Commission Credit Rules. A rule says When (Customer, Ship-to Address or Salesperson), for which customer or salesperson, who to add (Add Salesperson), with Credit Type, Credit %, Rate % and dates.
A credit rule adds the account manager to every document for this customer.
- Rules run when the customer, ship-to, salesperson or document date changes on a sales document.
- Credits added by a rule show Added by Rule. Credits you typed are never changed by a rule.
- Rules add document credits, not line credits.
Credits follow the document
Credits are copied from quote to order, from blanket order to order, from order to posted invoice and credit memo, and from order lines to invoice lines with Get Shipment Lines. Copy Document copies the document credits when Include Header is on.
