Release commission
Pay When, the release job and the date commission becomes payable.
updated: applies-to: 2.0.0.0
Commission is earned when you post the invoice. Pay When decides when it can be paid, and the release job makes it payable after the customer pays.
Pay When
| Pay When | Commission becomes payable |
|---|---|
| On Posting | At once, on the posting date. |
| When Fully Paid | When the invoice is fully paid. |
| As Customer Pays | In proportion to what the customer has paid. |
| Setup Default | As set in Default Pay When on Commission Setup. |
Set it on the plan. Different plans can use different settings.
Schedule the release job
On Commission Setup, choose Schedule Release Job, or turn on Schedule the release job in the assisted setup. The job runs every 30 minutes.
Release Payable Commission does at once what the release job does on its schedule.
How it works:
- When a payment or credit memo is applied to an invoice, or unapplied, the invoice's commission entries are marked Release Pending. Customer posting is never slowed down or stopped by commission.
- The release job updates the payable amount of those entries and clears the mark.
The Waiting for Release tile on the Commission Manager role center counts the entries waiting for the job.
To release at once, for example right after posting a payment, choose Release Payable Commission on Commission Ledger Entries or on the role center. It makes commission payable for every entry whose customer paid, or got a credit memo applied, since the job last ran.
Release dates
- On Posting: the document's posting date.
- When Fully Paid and As Customer Pays: the posting date of the payment or credit that made the commission payable. A payment dated 20 November releases on 20 November, whenever the job runs.
Good to know
- Without the release job, When Fully Paid and As Customer Pays commission becomes payable only when you choose Release Payable Commission. The Commission Setup Check report reports a missing job.
- Entries on hold are skipped until you release the hold. See Hold, reassign and recalculate.
