Receive and hold vendor stock

Ask vendors for stock

Set consignment stock levels per item and location, let Bitta Consignment suggest replenishment requests, send them to the vendor and receive what arrives.

updated: applies-to: 1.0.0.0

A consignment vendor keeps your locations stocked, and you pay only for what you sell. When the vendor's stock runs low, send the vendor a replenishment request. Bitta Consignment proposes what to ask for from stock levels you set per item and location, and the request becomes the consignment receipt when the goods arrive.

Before you start

  • The vendor is a consignment vendor and the location has Vendor Consignment selected. See Setup reference.
  • Requests take their numbers from Replenishment Request Nos. in Consignment Setup, or from Document Nos. when it is blank.
  • Creating a request needs a Bitta Consignment seat, as for every consignment document. Printing and sending it does not.

Set the stock levels

The levels live on the native stockkeeping unit of the item and location, the record Business Central already uses for reorder points per location.

  1. Search for Stockkeeping Units and open or create the unit for the item, variant and consignment location.
  2. On the Replenishment FastTab, enter the consignment vendor in Vendor No.. The requests go to this vendor.
  3. On the Consignment FastTab, enter Consignment Reorder Point and Consignment Maximum Inventory, in the base unit of measure.

Set the consignment stock levels on the stockkeeping unit.

These fields are separate from the native Reorder Point and Maximum Inventory, which planning uses for your own stock. Vendor stock is not your inventory, so planning never acts on it. On the Stockkeeping Units list you can show the three columns and fill them for many items at once.

NOTE

A stockkeeping unit has one vendor. When two consignment vendors stock the same item at the same location, set the levels for the vendor that replenishes it.

Suggest replenishment requests

  1. On the vendor card choose Consignment > Suggest Replenishment Requests, or open Consignment Replenishment Requests and choose Suggest Replenishment Requests for every vendor.
  2. Review the proposal. Projected Vendor Stock is the vendor's stock at the location, less what is committed to consignment sales lines, plus what is already requested or on open consignment receipts. A line appears when the projected stock is at or below the reorder point, and Quantity to Request fills it up to the maximum (to the reorder point when there is no maximum).
  3. Change or delete lines, then choose OK. Bitta Consignment creates one open request per vendor and location.

Review the proposed quantities before the requests are created.

Because requested quantities count as coming, running the suggestion again the next day does not ask twice.

Send the request

  1. Open the request, check the lines and choose Release.
  2. Choose Print or Send. Send uses the vendor's document sending profile, for example email. A released request then shows the status Sent.

The request prints with the report selection usage Consignment Replenishment Request on Report Selection - Purchase, so you can choose another report or layout. An open request prints marked as a draft. To change a sent request, choose Reopen, change it and send it again.

Receive what the vendor delivers

When the goods arrive, choose Create Receipt on the request. It creates a consignment receipt with the requested lines and links the two documents: the request shows the Receipt No., the receipt the Replenishment Request No..

A request sent to the vendor, with the receipt created from it.

On the receipt, enter the quantities that actually arrived and the serial and lot numbers on Item Tracking Lines, then post it as usual. See Receive vendor stock. Posting the receipt deletes the request; the posted receipt keeps its number. If you delete the receipt instead, the request is free again and Create Receipt works once more.

TIP

A request never posts anything. It only asks the vendor; the stock arrives on the receipt.
