License and seats
Start a trial or activate the Bitta Consignment license, give consignment users a seat, and see what still works without a license and after it ends.
updated: applies-to: 1.0.0.0
Bitta Consignment is licensed per seat and month, with at least 3 seats. A seat is a user who works with consignment documents: anyone who creates, releases or posts consignment documents, posts the consignment journal, creates settlement documents, runs aging or creates and replenishes customer sites. Everyone else, including sales staff who sell consigned stock, needs no seat. Sales quotes and orders, drop shipments, returns, undo, pages, reports and Find entries always work, with or without a license, so the business never stops.
Open the license page
Search for Bitta Consignment License, or choose Bitta Consignment License on Consignment Setup. The page shows:
- License: the Status, who it is Licensed To, the Plan and Type (trial or paid), and Valid From and Valid Until.
- Seats: how many Licensed Seats the license has and how many are Seats Used.
- Seat Holders: each user with a seat, whether the seat is assigned within the license (Seat Assigned), when and by whom it was given, and when it was removed.
- This Environment: the Microsoft Entra Tenant ID, the Environment and the License ID that Bitta Apps support asks for.
Start a trial or activate
- Choose Request Trial to open the Bitta Apps website and ask for a free trial. You receive an activation code for 30 days and 3 seats. Request Trial is shown only while no license is stored.
- Choose Activate > Enter Activation Code and enter the code. The app gets the license that belongs to it.
- After a renewal, choose Activate > Get License from Bitta Apps to get the current license of the tenant. If Bitta Apps sent you the license text instead, choose Activate > Paste License.
- Refresh checks the license and the seats again.
The assisted setup offers the same steps on its License step. See Getting started.
Give and remove seats
- Under Seat Holders, choose Assign Seat and choose the user.
- To free a seat, select the user and choose Remove Seat. The seat is free at once, but the same user can get a seat again only 30 days later, so seats cannot be rotated among many people. Assign Seat for that user before then says from which date it is possible and offers Choose another user, which gives the seat to the user you choose instead.
Assign Seat refuses a new seat when all seats of the license are used. If a renewed license has fewer seats than users who hold one, the seats beyond the limit are not assigned: Seat Assigned is off for them and they cannot run licensed actions until you remove other seats or the license has more seats.
When the license ends
| Situation | Licensed actions | Everything else |
|---|---|---|
| Active, or ended at most 14 days ago, and the user has an assigned seat | Work | Work |
| Active, user without a seat or with a seat beyond the license | Refused with a message that opens the license page | Work |
| Not activated, or ended more than 14 days ago | Refused | Work |
A notification on Consignment Setup, the consignment document lists, the journal and, for users with a seat, the Order Processor and Purchasing Agent role centers says when the license is missing, in a trial, in its 14-day grace period, about to end or when you have no seat. It has an Open Bitta Consignment License action. You can switch it off in My Notifications (Consignment: license status); the licensed actions still explain what is missing.
