Troubleshooting and FAQ
What the most common Bitta Consignment messages mean and how to fix them, from receipts and sales to customer sites, plus answers to frequent questions.
updated: applies-to: 1.0.0.0
Bitta Consignment checks documents, journal lines and new customer sites before it posts, releases or creates them, and collects every problem it finds. When it finds one problem, you see that message with its actions. When it finds several, nothing is posted and the Error Messages page lists them all, as for a sales or purchase posting in Business Central: select a message and choose Open related record to go to the document, line or card to fix, then post again. Each message names the line by its item and its serial or lot number, for example "the line for item 1896-S, serial SN0002", so you can find it on the document. Where the fix is one step, the message offers an action such as Set value to work date or Recalculate Expected; the action shows when the message is the only problem found. This page lists the common messages, why they appear and how to fix them. In the messages below, the numbers and codes are examples.

Frequently asked questions
Does vendor stock appear in my inventory?
It depends on the location:
- At a normal vendor consignment location, no. Vendor stock is only in the Consignment Ledger. The item card shows it separately in Consignment Qty. It is not in Inventory, inventory value, planning or availability of your own stock.
- At a Warehouse Mode location, yes, at zero value. The units are native inventory, so they count in Inventory, bin contents, availability and planning at that location, but they add nothing to the inventory value. The Consignment Ledger records which vendor owns them.
Does it post anything to the general ledger?
Not while you hold it. The general ledger is posted only when you sell the stock (the drop-shipment purchase and sale) or buy it out with an ownership change, and those use standard Business Central posting.
Can I keep my own stock and vendor stock in the same location and bin?
Yes.
- At a normal vendor consignment location they are recorded in different ledgers: your stock in the item ledger, the vendor's stock only in the Consignment Ledger. They never mix.
- At a Warehouse Mode location both are native inventory in the same item ledger and bins. The vendor's units carry zero value, and the Consignment Ledger keeps which units are the vendor's. Owned stock of Average-cost items is refused there, so that the zero-value units do not change its cost.
Can several vendors consign the same item?
Yes. The sales line proposes the vendor with the oldest stock at the location, and you can choose another one. Select Consignment Stock shows the stock of every vendor.
Can I reserve consignment stock?
Not with native reservations, because Business Central cannot reserve a drop-shipment line. The commitment does the same job: what one open sales line takes, the next one cannot. See Commitment explained.
Can I pick vendor stock with warehouse documents, or use it in production or assembly?
At a location in Warehouse Mode, yes for warehouse documents: vendor stock is native inventory at zero value there, so warehouse receipts, put-aways, picks, shipments, counts and scanners work. See Warehouse Mode. At other vendor consignment locations, use the Consignment Pick List. Production, assembly and projects always need your own stock: buy the units out first, or, at a location without Warehouse Mode, turn on Buy Out at Consumption in Consignment Setup so the consumption buys them out itself. See Buy-out and aging.
How do I stop a notification from coming back?
Choose Don't show again on the notification, or switch it off in My Notifications (search for it, the consignment notifications start with "Consignment:"). The license notification has no Don't show again action, but can be switched off there too; licensed actions still explain what is missing.
Does stock at a customer site count in my item availability?
Yes. Customer-site stock is your own inventory at a normal location, so it counts in item totals like any location. Use location filters to exclude site locations.
Why do consignment entry numbers have gaps?
Entry numbers come from a number sequence, like item ledger entries in current Business Central versions. A posting that is cancelled leaves a gap. The numbers still go up in posting order.
Which languages and countries are supported?
Version 1.0 is in English and available in all countries where Business Central online is available.
What data does the app send to Bitta Apps?
Only usage and license events: for example that the setup was completed or the first consignment receipt was posted, and license checks with the license status, the number of seats used and the action that was refused. No customer, vendor, item or amount data is sent.
