Chapter 2 of 7
Receive and hold vendor stock
Vendor stock enters the separate Consignment Ledger with a consignment receipt, with its serial numbers, lots, expiration dates, locations, bins and variants. While you hold it, you move it, adjust it, reclassify it in the Consignment Journal and count it with physical counts. At a normal vendor consignment location none of these steps touches the item ledger or the general ledger; at a Warehouse Mode location the stock is zero-value native inventory.
In this chapter
- 01Receive vendor stockPost a consignment receipt for goods a vendor delivers and still owns, with location, bin and tracking, then print the receipt note for the vendor's driver.
- 02Serial, lot and expiryTrack vendor consignment stock by serial number, lot, package and expiration date: assign numbers on receipts, keep one expiry per lot and sell by FIFO or FEFO.
- 03Bins and variantsKeep vendor consignment stock in bins and by item variant: required bins, moving between bins, choosing the bin on a sale and what warehouse handling covers.
- 04Move, adjust and countTransfer vendor consignment stock between locations and bins, adjust it with reason codes, post quick fixes in the Consignment Journal and run physical counts.
- 05Warehouse ModeHold vendor stock as zero-value inventory at a Warehouse Mode location, so warehouse documents and scanners handle it, and pay the vendor by item charge.
- 06Ask vendors for stockSet consignment stock levels per item and location, let Bitta Consignment suggest replenishment requests, send them to the vendor and receive what arrives.
- 07Scan and countCount consignment stock and enter customer usage with a scanner or a phone camera, and open the right count for any location with Count Consignment Stock.
