Bitta Retail POS guide

Stores, terminals, and users

The Store -> Terminal -> POS User hierarchy: store location codes, per-terminal overrides for display, printing, drawer, and card readers, and cashier records with PINs and BC salesperson mapping.

Bitta Retail POS organizes its operating structure as a three-level hierarchy: a POS Store holds one or more POS Terminals (tills), and POS Users (cashiers) are mapped to a store, a terminal, and a Business Central salesperson. Every sale is stamped with its store and terminal, so reports, shifts, and settings can all be scoped to the right till.

Where to find it

Open Tell Me (Alt+Q) and search POS Stores, POS Terminals, or POS Users. The Setup Wizard creates the first store and terminal for you; see the Administrator setup checklist for where this fits in go-live.

Stores

A POS Store carries its own defaults and, most importantly, a Location Code - the BC inventory location this store sells from.

Field What it does
Store Code / Name / Address / City / Phone No. Identity and contact details.
Location Code The BC location stamped onto mapped sale lines and used for pricing context, estimated cost, stock badges, availability, and posting. Configure a valid named location before selling mapped items.
Cash Customer No. Store-level override of the walk-in cash customer for this store's anonymous sales. Blank uses the company-wide cash customer from POS Setup.
Tax Area Code / Tax Liable For an in-store sale, the store's Tax Area Code is the primary destination jurisdiction. Customer tax liability is resolved separately from the POS customer or mapped BC customer; Store Tax Liable is only the fallback when no customer authority exists. See Taxes.
Active Whether the store is available for use.

A store has no "default terminal" or "default salesperson" field of its own - those defaults come from POS Setup and the POS User mapping. Running several stores, cross-location stock visibility, and store-scoped precedence are covered in Multi-store operations.

Terminals

Each terminal belongs to exactly one store and can override store and company defaults, so one till can behave differently from the next.

Field What it overrides
Terminal ID / Description / Store Code / Active Identity and the store this till belongs to.
Shared Terminal Marks the till as shared by multiple POS users. PIN login is required only when POS Setup's Require Terminal Password is also on.
Tile Size / Show Favorites Per-terminal register display; (Default) inherits the POS Setup value. See Register layout and assortment.
Disable Price Check Turns off Price Check mode on this till (for example, a customer-facing self-checkout).
Auto-Lock (min) Per-terminal idle lock: -1 inherits the Setup value, 0 never locks this till, 1+ locks after that many idle minutes.
Receipt Transport Override / Receipt Printer Name / PrintNode Printer ID / LAN Printer Endpoint URL / LAN Printer Protocol Per-terminal receipt routing that overrides the company defaults. See Printers and hardware setup.
Drawer Open Mode When this till kicks the cash drawer: Default (follow POS Setup), On Cash Only, On Every Sale, or Never.
EFT Terminal ID The already-registered card-reader identifier assigned to this till for integrated payments (for Stripe, the tmr_... reader ID). Entering it does not register or pair a reader with the processor. Blank when the till takes no integrated card payments or the provider is Simulated. See Stripe Terminal setup.
Scale fields Per-terminal live-scale configuration on the Terminal Scale Setup card: Inherit/Disabled/Web Serial mode, protocol, weight unit, and serial settings.

Which tender buttons a till shows is overridden separately through the Terminal Tender subform - blank means all tenders. See Tender screen and split payments.

TIP

Nearly every behavioral choice in the app ships as a per-store or per-terminal override with a sensible default. When a till behaves unexpectedly, check the terminal record first, then the store, then POS Setup - that is the resolution order.

POS Users

POS Users are cashiers with a PIN for shared-terminal login and lock-screen unlock, an optional personal discount cap, and a Supervisor flag.

Field What it does
PIN Set via the Set PIN action; stored salted and hashed, never plaintext.
Supervisor Can authorize over-limit discounts and price overrides, and is never prompted for their own.
Max Discount % Personal discount cap that overrides the company default when above 0.
Can Override Price Lets this user override prices at the till - still AND-gated with the POS Setup master switch and the per-item flag. Without it, the user can request supervisor approval only when Supervisor For Price Override is enabled.
User ID / User Security ID Link a named POS user to a Business Central user account. Is Shared User is a read-only derived indicator.
Store / Terminal / Salesperson Where the user works and their BC salesperson attribution.

BC salesperson mapping

The Salesperson Code on the POS User is what lands on the sale and flows through to the posted BC documents, powering standard salesperson reporting. When a POS user has no salesperson mapping, the Default Salesperson Code from POS Setup is used instead.

NOTE

On a shared till, the login PIN identifies who is ringing, and the lock screen lets one cashier hand the till to the next without leaving the register - new sales carry the new user's attribution. PIN policy and lock behavior are covered in Security, PINs, and lock screen.

Quick test

  1. Give two POS Users PINs, open the register, lock it, and unlock as the other user. Expected: the active cashier switches and new sales carry the new user's salesperson attribution.
  2. Set one terminal's Tile Size to Large. Expected: larger tiles on that terminal only - every other till keeps the company default.

The catalog side of master data - POS Items, POS Customers, categories, and BC mapping - lives on POS items and catalog.
