Bitta Commission guide

Turn features on as you grow

Switch optional modules on and off in Commission Feature Management, see what each module adds and prepares, and understand hiding and BAA-FEATURE-OFF.

Bitta Commission is split into modules so that a new company starts with a small, simple app and grows into the advanced features it needs. Commission Feature Management is where a setup administrator switches each module on or off for the company.

Commission Feature Management lists every optional module; the subscription includes all of them.

Before you start

  • You need the Bitta Commission Setup Administrator permission set (BAA Comm Setup Admin). Other users can read the module list but cannot switch modules.
  • Modules are switched per company. Switching a module in one company does not change another company.

The modules

The core commission engine is always on and cannot be switched off. Every other module is optional.

Module What it adds When you switch it on
Core commission Flat rate, flat amount and tiered commission on posted sales, settlement, payroll-ready export, G/L posting and statements. Always on.
Quotas and targets Period targets, team quota allocation and participant weights. No defaults are created. Set targets on a plan version's calculation periods.
Advanced commission models Per unit, bonus, SPIFF, ranking, pool, draw, guarantee, scorecard, discretionary, formula and multi-dimensional rate models. No defaults are created. The new models appear when you add a component to a Draft plan version.
Cash-based eligibility and holds Cash-based and deferred eligibility, hold days, eligibility holds, aging and forfeiture. Creates the CASH-COLLECTED eligibility policy, which releases commission when the customer pays.
Disputes Participant disputes on delivered statements with categories, response SLAs and scoped payment holds. Creates a response SLA for every dispute category: 48 hours, 24 hours for high priority, 8 hours for urgent, with manager escalation.
Advanced approvals Multi-stage approvals, automatic delegation and approval SLAs beyond the single-approver policy. Creates a default single-approver plan approval policy naming you, when no active plan policy exists.
Multi-currency Settlement in participant currencies, dated rate rules, measure currency rules and FX adjustments. Switches on multi-currency settlement in the participant currency, with dated default rate rules and source-rate capture.
Deferred commission accounting Capitalization and amortization of commission cost. Creates the CAPITALIZE accounting policy (capitalize and amortize straight line) with a 12-month benefit period.
Simulation and forecasting What-if, scenarios, payout forecasts and anomaly detection. Creates the default anomaly detection rules.
AI plan drafting Drafts plan components from plain language, explains earnings and answers dispute questions. Every AI capability is off while this module is off, and drafts are never activated automatically. No defaults are created. See AI plan design assistant.

Every module is included in the Bitta Commission subscription, so you can switch on any of them. See Pricing.

Defaults are created only when they are missing. Switching a module on again never changes or duplicates configuration you already have.

Switch a module on

  1. Open Commission Feature Management.
  2. Select the module and choose Turn On.
  3. Read the confirmation. It names the module and explains which defaults it prepares.
  4. Confirm. The module's pages appear in navigation.
  5. If the module has a setup page, the app asks whether you want to review it now. You can open it later with Open Module Setup.
Module Open Module Setup opens
Quotas and targets, Advanced commission models Commission Plans
Cash-based eligibility and holds Commission Eligibility Policies
Disputes Commission Dispute SLAs
Advanced approvals Commission Approval Policies
Multi-currency Commission Currency Setup
Deferred commission accounting Commission Accounting Policy Settings
Simulation and forecasting Commission Scenarios

The fields Enabled From and Disabled From show when the module was last switched on and off. Every switch is written to the audit trail.

Switch a module off

  1. Select the module and choose Turn Off.
  2. Confirm.

Switching off hides the module's pages and refuses its new-work actions. It never stops the processing of data that was created while the module was on. For example, components that use an advanced model keep calculating, and settlements already built keep their holds.

WARNING

Switching a module off does not undo its configuration. If you switch off Cash-based eligibility, existing cash-based policies still govern the earnings they already apply to.

How hiding works

Each optional module has its own application area in Business Central. When you switch a module, the app refreshes the company's application areas, so role center navigation shows or hides the module's pages. Some pages also show or hide individual fields and actions. For example, the quota target column on Commission Calculation Periods is visible only when Quotas and targets is on, and the component editor offers the advanced models only when Advanced commission models is on.

When a module is off, its pages are also removed from Tell Me search. Services check the switch directly as well: if a user opens a module page from a saved link or bookmark and starts new work, the action is refused with this message:

NOTE

BAA-FEATURE-OFF The Quotas and targets module is switched off in this company. A Setup Administrator can switch it on in Commission Feature Management.

The message names the module that is off.

Other messages you may see:

Code Meaning
BAA-FEATURE-ADMIN Only a Setup Administrator can switch modules.
BAA-FEATURE-CORE The core engine is always on.
BAA-FEATURE-STATE The module is already in the requested state.

Upgraded companies

When a Core 1.0 company is upgraded to Release 1.1, the upgrade switches on every module that the company already uses, based on its existing data. Nothing is switched off. See Install and upgrade.

  1. Core only. Run a flat-rate or tiered plan end to end: calculation, settlement, payroll-ready export and posting.
  2. Quotas and targets, when plans pay on attainment, hurdles or percent-of-quota bands.
  3. Advanced commission models, for per-unit, bonus, SPIFF, draw, manager override or other period-close models.
  4. Cash-based eligibility and holds, when commission is earned on customer payment.
  5. Disputes and Advanced approvals, when participants review statements and more than one approval stage is needed.
  6. Multi-currency and Deferred commission accounting, when finance requires them.
  7. Simulation and forecasting and AI plan drafting, for plan design and planning.

TIP

The setup wizard switches on the modules a plan style needs when you choose Create Setup, for example Advanced commission models for Amount per unit sold and Quotas and targets for Bonus for reaching a target. Each switch is audited like a manual one.
