A guide for sales reps: see your commission tiles, read and accept statements, raise a dispute, estimate a deal before you close it, and accept your plan.

status: verified applies-to: 1.1.2.0rev: 1

This page is for sales reps and other participants. It shows where to see what you have earned and why, how to read your statement, how to check a deal before you close it, how to accept your plan, and what to do when you think a number is wrong. Everything happens inside Business Central.

My Commission gives the rep tiles for earnings, balances and statements, with a My Earnings action.

Before you start

  • Your administrator links your Business Central user to your participant record and gives you the Bitta Commission Participant permission set with a Participant only scope. Without the link, the My Commission tiles show the refresh status NO_PARTICIPANT.
  • You only ever see your own records. Your manager and finance can see records within their scope.
  • To find any page named here, choose the search icon (Alt+Q) and type the page name.

See where you stand

Open My Commission. The page shows your tiles:

Tile What it tells you
Attainment Percent How far you are against the quota targets that apply today.
Earning Amount Commission earned this year to date, in local currency. Choose the tile to open this year's earnings in My Earnings.
Eligible Amount Earned commission that can be included in the next settlement.
Payable Amount Commission reserved for payment in a frozen settlement.
Paid Amount Commission that has been settled and paid.
Held Amount Commission currently held, for example under an eligibility hold or a dispute hold.
Open Dispute Count Your disputes that are still open.
Next Milestone Date The end date of the next open commission period.
Statement Status Code The status of your most recent statement.

The page also has My Earnings, My Statements, My Disputes and Metric Definitions. Metric Definitions opens the Commission Metric Catalog, which explains exactly how every tile is calculated.

If you manage a team, the My Team Commission part shows your team's participant count, average attainment, year-to-date earnings, and the approvals, disputes and exceptions waiting for you.

See your earnings and why you got them

Every amount the app calculates for you is an earning. You can read your own earnings and every calculation step behind them. The pages are read-only, and they only ever show your own records.

  1. On My Commission, choose My Earnings. The list shows your earnings, newest first, with the Business Date, plan, component, period, Commission Model, Final Earning Amount and Delta Amount.
  2. Open an earning to see the My Earning card. The Calculation Details group shows the base before and after the document (Prior Base Value, Current Base Value), the Resolved Rate, any Multiplier, the quota Target Value and Attainment Percent, and the rounding.
  3. Check Tier Calculation Details on the card. It lists each rate band your sale passed through, and a row for each modifier, such as a cap or an accelerator.
  4. Choose Explain to open My Calculation Trace. Each row is one calculation step, in order: the source document, your credit, the measured value and attainment, the rate or model, every tier and modifier, the true-up against what was already recognized, and the final rounding. Each step has a Description, an Input Value, a Parameter Value and an Output Value.

Original and Return Earnings on My Earnings shows an invoice together with its later returns or corrections.

NOTE

My Earnings shows only the participant linked to your user or named in your Participant only scope. Even if you also manage a team, the team's earnings are not listed here.

Read your statement

  1. Choose My Statements, or open Commission Statements.
  2. Open the statement for the period.
  3. Check the Commission result group: Earning Amount, Eligible Amount, Held Amount, Recovery Amount and Settled Amount.
  4. Check Performance and balances: Quota Amount, Attainment Percent, Draw Balance, Draw Recovered Amount, YTD Earning Amount and YTD Settled Amount.
  5. Choose Snapshot lines. Each line shows the plan, component and measure, the quantity, rate and amount, and a Plain Explanation of how it was calculated.
  6. Choose Print statement for a printed copy in your statement language.

Confirm by shows the date by which you should confirm the statement, and Dispute by the last date to raise a dispute. If your company sets a confirmation window and you do nothing, the statement is recorded as accepted after that date.

A statement never changes after it is made available. If something needs correcting, you receive a new version, and the earlier one is marked Superseded or Corrected. See Participant and manager statements.

Accept or dispute a statement

If your company uses the Disputes module, the statement card offers these actions:

  • Accept statement confirms that the statement is correct.
  • Submit dispute opens a review case. Choose the statement line (or zero for an amount across the statement), a Review category such as MISSING-CREDIT or RATE, a Priority, and the Amount to review.
  • Save dispute draft saves the case so you can finish it later. Open it from My Disputes and choose Submit draft.

TIP

The Review note on the dispute form is stored only as a hash, so reviewers cannot read it. Explain your case in the Comments FactBox on the dispute card, and attach supporting documents there with Attach document.

After you submit, follow the case in My Disputes. You can Withdraw it with a reason, and if it is resolved or denied you can Appeal once within the appeal window. Notifications are sent as the case moves forward, for example when it is updated or when a payment hold is applied or released. See Disputes and holds.

Check a deal before you close it

On a sales quote, sales order or unposted sales invoice that carries your salesperson code, the Estimated Commission FactBox shows what the document would earn you. Choose Open Estimate to see each plan component, your attainment before and after the deal, and when the commission would become eligible for payment.

If your company allows it, Commission What-If lets you enter Hypothetical Additional Sales (LCY) and an Expected Customer Payment Date and choose Project Earnings to see what extra sales would add this period.

Estimates are modeled outcomes. They are never saved as earnings and they do not guarantee payment. See Forecasts and estimates.

Accept your plan

When your company distributes a plan to you, you receive a Plan Available notification.

  1. Open My Plan Acceptance.
  2. Select the delivery and choose View Plan Document to read the exact plan document.
  3. Choose Acknowledge to record that you received and reviewed it, Accept to accept that exact version, or Reject with a comment.
  4. Use Comment to add a remark without changing an earlier response.

Each response is added to an append-only history. See Plan distribution and acceptance.

Why is my amount different from what I expected?

Work through these checks before you raise a dispute:

  1. Is it earned but not yet eligible? Commission can wait for customer payment or a hold period. Compare Eligible Amount with Earning Amount.
  2. Is it held? A hold keeps part of your commission out of payment until it is released.
  3. Was there a return or correction? A credit memo or correction reduces a later statement rather than changing an old one.
  4. Was a recovery taken? Recovery Amount shows amounts withheld to recover an earlier overpayment or draw.
  5. Did the credit go to you, and at what rate? Open the earning in My Earnings and choose Explain. The credit step shows the percent of the sale credited to you, and the rate and tier steps show how the amount was priced. If a different rule should have given you the credit, ask your manager or finance to check the credit rule traces. See Explain any earning.

If the numbers still look wrong, raise a dispute on the statement line.
