Release 1.1 turns Bitta Commission from a focused Core release into a complete commission platform, while keeping the simple start. This page summarizes what changed compared with Core 1.0 and where to read more.

Core 1.0 in one paragraph

Core 1.0 covered governed flat-rate and progressive-tier commission on posted sales invoices and credit memos, with linked returns, immediate eligibility on posting, settlements, payroll-ready export, controlled G/L posting, participant statements, disputes and scoped holds. Calculation ran in a single currency, and eligibility was always On Posting at 100 percent with no hold.

Everything in Core 1.0 is still in Release 1.1. Existing data is kept when you upgrade. See Install and upgrade.

Feature modules: start simple

Release 1.1 splits the app into modules. The core engine is always on. Ten optional modules are switched on or off per company in Commission Feature Management. A new company starts with the core only, and pages of modules that are off are hidden from navigation. Upgraded companies automatically get every module they already use.

Read Turn features on as you grow.

Expanded commission models

Release 1.1 adds new ways to measure and pay:

  • Measure basis. A component can measure net amount, gross margin (sales less actual cost), base quantity, document count, monthly or annual recurring revenue, net new monthly recurring revenue, new customer count or new product count.
  • Core models. Flat Rate, Progressive Tier, Tiered Rate, Retroactive Tier and Flat Amount are available in every company.
  • Advanced models (Advanced commission models module). Per Unit, Formula, Bonus, SPIFF, Scorecard, Discretionary, Growth, Residual, Royalty, Manager Override, Pool, Ranking, Guarantee and Draw. The period-close models are calculated over the whole period with Close Commission Period.
  • Modifiers. Hurdles, period caps and floors, gates between components, best-of and worst-of pairs, attainment multipliers (accelerators and decelerators), percent-of-quota bands, linear interpolation and multi-dimensional rate tables.
  • Formulas. Governed, versioned formulas can reshape the base or define the earning itself.

Read Percent of sales, margin, and per unit, Tiered rates, Bonuses and SPIFFs, Draws and guarantees and Advanced models.

Quotas, crediting and organization

  • Quotas and targets (Quotas module): period targets on calculation periods, Allocate Target, Retire Target, team targets split across the members with Allocate Team Target, and participant component weights.
  • Crediting: credit rules on source attributes, credit splits with partners, roll-up, team, overlay and manager credit, credit caps, credit overrides with approval, and an unassigned credit worklist so no credit is silently lost.
  • Organization: positions with vacant position credit, dated teams, territories with rules and a resolution test, participant transitions for hires, transfers, leaves, returns and terminations, and the Commission Hierarchy Editor to build and maintain dated reporting lines.

Read Quotas, targets, and attainment, Crediting rules, splits, and overrides and Positions, teams, and hierarchies.

Eligibility, currency and accounting

  • Cash-based eligibility (Cash-based eligibility and holds module): release commission when the customer pays, on full payment, or after hold days, with eligibility holds, aging and forfeiture. See Eligibility, aging, and holds.
  • Multi-currency (Multi-currency module): settlement in participant currencies with dated rate rules, measure currency rules and FX adjustments. See Multi-currency.
  • Deferred commission accounting (Deferred commission accounting module): capitalize and amortize commission cost. See Deferred commission accounting.
  • Accounting policy authoring: accountants and setup administrators create their own accounting policies on Commission Accounting Policies, validate and activate them, and change an active policy through a new version. See Accounting and posting.
  • Suggest from Chart of Accounts proposes commission expense and liability accounts. Nothing is saved until finance reviews it. See Accounting and posting.

Governance and planning

  • Advanced approvals (Advanced approvals module): multi-stage approvals, automatic delegation and approval SLAs beyond the single-approver policy that the core includes. Build a policy with several ordered stages in the client, each with a named user, an approval queue, the requester's manager or another approver type, an optional threshold amount and its own deadline. See Approvals and notifications.
  • Replace or retire an active approval policy: activate a later version of a policy as the replacement of an active version with no end date, such as the default plan policy, or retire a version on an end date with a reason. Requests already submitted finish under their original version. See Approvals and notifications.
  • Disputes (Disputes module): disputes on delivered statements with categories, response SLAs and scoped payment holds. See Disputes and holds.
  • Simulation and forecasting (Simulation and forecasting module): what-if, scenarios, payout forecasts and anomaly detection, isolated from live earnings. See What-if and scenarios.
  • AI plan drafting (AI plan drafting module): drafts plan components from plain language, explains earnings and answers dispute questions. Switching the module off turns off every AI capability. Output is always a labeled draft for human review, and drafts are never activated automatically. In Release 1.1 the only provider is a deterministic template that does not call an external AI service. See AI plan design assistant.
  • Plan distribution: deliver plan documents to every assigned participant and collect acknowledgement or acceptance. See Plan distribution and acceptance.
  • My Earnings for sales reps: reps open their own earnings from My Commission and choose Explain to see every calculation step, on read-only pages locked to their own records. See My Commission for sales reps.

Faster setup

  • Eight-style setup wizard. Set Up Bitta Commission asks "How do you pay?" and offers eight plan styles: Percent of sales, Percent of margin, Amount per unit sold, Tiered rates, Bonus for reaching a target, SPIFF on selected items, Manager override on team sales, and Draw against commission. Each style creates a normal Draft plan.
  • Last-month preview. Before you create anything, the wizard shows what each selected salesperson would have earned on last month's posted invoices. The preview writes nothing.
  • Excel setup import. Commission Setup Imports downloads templates for participants, plans and rates, quotas and opening balances, then validates and applies them through the same services as the pages.
  • Setup helpers. The setup checklist offers Prepare Company Defaults, a next recommended step with Do Next Step, Copy Plan to Next Year and Add Another Plan from a Template.
  • Industry templates. Fifteen versioned templates install Draft configuration for common industries.

Read Guided setup wizard, Import setup from Excel and Implementation paths and templates.

Things to know before you upgrade

  • When you choose Create Setup, the guided setup switches on the modules the chosen plan style needs. For example, Amount per unit sold, Bonus, SPIFF, Manager override and Draw use advanced models, and a bonus target also uses quotas.
