Beyond the setup wizard, Bitta Commission gives administrators a set of tools to plan and track a full implementation: the setup checklist, the implementation checklist and path catalog, industry templates, the migration setup and a cross-company readiness view. This page explains what each tool is for and when to use it.
Before you start
- You need the Bitta Commission Setup Administrator permission set (BAA Comm Setup Admin) for most actions on these pages.
- Run the guided setup wizard first if you want a quick working setup. These tools help you finish and verify the rest.
Bitta Commission Setup Checklist
Bitta Commission Setup Checklist checks every setup area and tells you the single next step to take.
- Open Bitta Commission Setup Checklist.
- Choose Check Setup. Each row shows a Status, the Check, the Finding and How to Fix. Passed checks stay visible.
- Read Next Recommended Step and choose Do Next Step, or select a row and choose Fix Selected Check to open the page that fixes it.
- Return and choose Check Setup again.
- When every check passes, choose Finish Configuration.
By default the checklist checks initial configuration. Turn on Include Operational Verification to also check approval, financial numbering, posting, real runs and reconciliation. Operational evidence is not needed to finish initial configuration.
Helpful actions on the checklist:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Prepare Company Defaults | Creates the missing first-setup defaults: commission numbering, a monthly calendar with this year's periods, an immediate eligibility policy and an expense-when-earned accounting policy. Existing choices are kept. |
| Prepare Commission Numbers | Creates the dedicated commission number series if it is missing. Used numbers are preserved. |
| Copy Plan to Next Year | Copies the latest published plan version to next year as a Draft successor with the same components, rates and assignments, then opens it for review. |
| Add Another Plan from a Template | Opens the industry templates. |
| Commission Feature Management | Opens the module switches. |
| Show Fix Guidance | Shows instructions for the selected finding. |
When a plan is about to end, the next recommended step suggests copying it to next year. When setup is complete, it suggests adding another plan from a template.
Implementation Checklist and Path Catalog
Implementation Checklist tracks thirteen restartable stages of an implementation for this company, with the readiness check each stage depends on, the page that fulfils it, and hashed completion evidence.
The stages are: Choose an implementation path, Company and license, Participants and positions, Commission sources, Plans and rates, Eligibility policy, Returns and corrections, Settlement and payroll-ready output, Accounting, Security and approvals, Opening data and validation, Jobs and operations, and Review readiness.
- Open Implementation Checklist. The header shows the Implementation Path, Setup State, Migration Mode and Stages Completed.
- Choose Refresh Checks to run the read-only readiness checks and update each stage.
- Select a stage and choose Open Stage Page to work on it.
- When the stage's prerequisites pass, choose Complete Stage and enter the completion evidence. The app stores the evidence with a SHA-256 hash.
- If a stage must be redone, a setup administrator chooses Restart Stage and enters a reason. The previous evidence hash is kept in the audit trail.
Completing stages never activates processing. It records that the stage is done.
Implementation Path Catalog lists the nine implementation paths and their stages as reference data:
| Path | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Simple Percentage | Invoice-based employee or agent commissions. |
| Distribution and Margin | Margin-based distribution and wholesale commissions. |
| Cash Collected | Commissions earned when the customer pays. |
| Quota and Tier | Quota attainment with tiered or retroactive rates. |
| External Agent | Vendor agents paid through purchase invoices. |
| Subscription and Recurring | Recurring and subscription revenue commissions. |
| Service and Project | Service and project milestone commissions. |
| Retail and POS | Store and register based retail commissions. |
| Advanced Enterprise | Every source, model and correction family combined. |
A new company starts on the Simple Percentage path.
Commission Migration Setup
Open Commission Migration Setup (or Migration Setup from the implementation checklist) to decide how the company starts:
- Fresh (forward opening) starts commission history at the opening date.
- Parallel run (parallel validation) compares results with the legacy system until the parallel run through date.
- Cutover (audited history) requires reconciled legacy control totals and a sign-off reference.
Choose Check Prerequisites to see the open findings for the selected mode. For cutover, enter the legacy reference, control total and record count, then choose Record Reconciliation. To bring in opening base amounts, use the Opening balances workbook in Import setup from Excel.
Commission Industry Templates
Commission Industry Templates offers fifteen versioned template packages: Distribution, Manufacturing representatives, Professional services, Service and field operations, SaaS and subscription, Retail and POS, Channel and partner, Insurance and financial distribution, Real estate and brokerage, Staffing and recruiting, Telecom and usage, Automotive, Media and advertising, Franchise and royalty, and Non-sales incentives.
A template installs Draft configuration through the same services as the plan pages: a calendar and periods, measures with a basis, payment and accounting policies, and a Draft plan with components and rate tables. Installing never publishes, activates or calculates anything.
- Open Commission Industry Templates. If the list is empty, choose Register Shipped Templates.
- Open a template. The card shows its description, an Implementation Checklist (roles, salesperson mapping, G/L mapping), a Golden Sample Scenario with inputs and expected results, and Known Gaps where the engine has no matching model.
- Choose Preview to see what the install would create or reuse, without writing anything.
- Choose Install. Enter Effective From, Effective To and a new Plan Code. Optionally enter a Sample Participant No. to give an existing participant a Draft assignment so you can run the golden scenario.
- Review, approve and publish the Draft plan as usual.
Roll Back Install removes the Draft plan of the latest install, only while that plan is still Draft. Installs shows the install history. Verify Hash recomputes the template hashes, and Export Package and Import Package move a template between companies or environments.
NOTE
A template may need optional modules for some of its components. If an install is refused with BAA-FEATURE-OFF, switch the module on in Commission Feature Management and install again.
Commission Company Readiness
Commission Company Readiness lists every company you can reach with its commission setup state, implementation path, license state, data version, active participants, Draft plan versions and last calculation run. Choose Refresh to read the facts again. Use Copy Configuration to Company to send calendars and Draft plans to another company. See Multi-company and copying configuration.
