Bitta Commission is a commission management app by Bitta Apps that runs inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It takes you from a commission plan to a paid, posted and reconciled commission, using the sales documents you already post in Business Central. Release 1.1 targets Business Central 28 and later.

Commission Feature Management: the core is always on, and every optional module is included in the subscription.

This page explains what the app does, who it is for, and how to find your way through this guide.

What Bitta Commission does

Most companies calculate commission in spreadsheets that sit outside the ERP. Bitta Commission keeps the whole process in Business Central, so every amount can be traced back to the posted invoice or credit memo that produced it.

The typical flow looks like this:

  1. You define a plan with one or more components, rates and assignments, and take it through a governed Draft -> Validate -> Submit -> Approve -> Publish lifecycle.
  2. The app captures posted sales invoices and credit memos and attributes each sale to a participant through a dated salesperson mapping.
  3. A calculation run turns credited sales into earnings. Every earning keeps a trace that explains the rate, the base and the tier that applied.
  4. Eligibility decides when an earning can be paid: on posting, or later when the customer pays (with the cash eligibility module).
  5. Settlements collect payable balances for a period and produce payroll-ready export files or purchase documents for vendor-paid agents.
  6. Accounting proposals post commission expense and liability to the general ledger through standard Business Central posting, and reconciliation compares the commission subledger with the G/L.
  7. Statements show each participant what they earned and why. With the disputes module, participants can raise a dispute on a statement line.

Corrections never overwrite history. A return, a late change or a manual adjustment is appended as a new entry linked to the original, so the original result stays explainable.

Who it is for

Bitta Commission is written for four groups of people. Each page in this guide names its main audience.

  • Administrators install the app, activate the license, run the guided setup and configure plans, participants and modules.
  • Finance and payroll users review eligibility, build settlements, export payroll-ready files, post to the G/L and reconcile.
  • Sales managers see their team's results, review statements and handle disputes.
  • Sales reps see their own commission, statements and plan documents in My Commission.

Permission sets separate these responsibilities. For example, the person who requests a change cannot approve it. See Roles and permissions.

Start simple, add modules as you grow

A new company starts with the core commission engine only. The core covers flat rate, flat amount and tiered commission on posted sales, settlement, payroll-ready export, G/L posting and statements. Everything else is an optional module that an administrator switches on in Commission Feature Management:

  • Quotas and targets
  • Advanced commission models
  • Cash-based eligibility and holds
  • Disputes
  • Advanced approvals
  • Multi-currency
  • Deferred commission accounting
  • Simulation and forecasting
  • AI plan drafting

When a module is off, its pages are hidden and its new-work actions are refused. Data created while a module was on keeps processing if you switch it off later. See Turn features on as you grow.

TIP

Start with the core and one simple plan. Switch on a module only when a real plan needs it, so users see fewer pages while they learn.

How the app keeps results trustworthy

  • Governed lifecycles. Plans, calendars, participants and many other records have dated versions. You add a new version instead of editing history.
  • Append-only ledgers. Earnings, eligibility, balances and accounting entries are appended, never changed in place.
  • Hashed evidence. Published plan definitions, statements, settlements and many other records carry SHA-256 hashes so later changes can be detected.
  • Independent approval. Plan versions, credit overrides, discretionary earnings and other sensitive actions need a second person.
  • Explainable results. Every earning links back to its source document, credit, rate and tier details.

Bitta Commission records and explains commission. It is not a payroll engine: it does not calculate wages, taxes, benefits or filings. Your finance and legal owners decide your commission, tax and accounting policies. The app configures and records the policies they choose.

Your first hour

If you are new to the app, follow this path:

  1. Read What's new in 1.1 if you used the earlier Core release.
  2. Install the extension and activate a license.
  3. Try the app safely with demo data.
  4. Run the guided setup wizard for your real salespeople.
  5. Review Implementation paths and templates and the setup checklist.
  6. Continue with Plans, versions, and assignments.

In Business Central, you open any page by name with Tell Me (the search icon, or Alt+Q). This guide shows page names in bold, for example Commission Plans.
