These release notes describe Universal Search 1.0.0.1, the version this guide documents. They list what the release contains and what changed from the previous version, so administrators can confirm which behavior applies to their environment. To check your installed version, open Extension Management in Business Central.
NOTE
The version number on the Microsoft AppSource listing can differ from the one installed in your environment. Check the installed version on Extension Management: that is the version whose notes apply to you.
Version 1.0.0.1
Requires: Business Central online, version 28.0 or later. No other extensions.
Changes from 1.0.0.0
- Help links. The in-app help link and the help link of the Set up Universal Search assisted setup now open this guide at Get started.
- Activation request. The license activation request now identifies the app as Universal Search. The environment details sent and the wizard steps are unchanged.
No pages, fields, permission sets, events or API methods changed.
What the release contains
Search
- The Universal Search page, opened from Tell Me, with one search box across every indexed table.
- Matching that tolerates typos, word order, missing or extra spaces, mid-word fragments and sound-alike spellings.
- Results ranked by match quality, field weight and how much of the field matched, grouped by table.
- Filter chips with live match counts, a per-table cap in the All view, Show more results up to 200 results, and keyboard navigation.
- Results limited to tables the user can read.
Administration
- Universal Search Setup with Start Indexing, result limits, an index size cap and the license status.
- Search Index Configuration with per-field weight, phonetic matching and record filters, plus Rebuild Selected Table and Process Now.
- Six starting index rows: Item No., Item Description, Customer No., Customer Name, Vendor Name and Contact Name.
- A recurring background job, created by Start Indexing, that keeps the index current every minute.
- Two permission sets:
BAA SEARCH(Universal Search - Use) andBAA SEARCH ADM(Universal Search - Admin).
License
- An optional, consent-based activation wizard for a free 50-year license, available from Assisted Setup. Search works the same whether the license is activated, declined or in its grace period.
