Business Central and Shopify integration
Plan the flow from online orders to fulfillment and financial reconciliation. Start with the Microsoft connector, agree on data ownership, and test the exceptions that your operations team needs to manage.
Confirm the connector fits your environment
Microsoft provides a Shopify Connector for Business Central online. It requires the relevant Business Central and Shopify licenses and is not available for Business Central on-premises. Review the Microsoft connector FAQ before choosing an architecture.
The connector supports connected ecommerce operations, but installation is only the starting point. Your store configuration, Business Central setup, item identifiers, customer model, locations and fulfillment process determine how the integration should behave. Use the connector overview and getting-started guide to identify the standard capabilities and prerequisites.
Bitta Apps offers Business Central integration and AL development services. We can discuss connector configuration, a failing workflow or a requirement that needs further technical scoping. Custom work should address a documented gap after the standard connector has been evaluated.
Agree on a system of record for each flow
Before scheduling synchronization, create a mapping sheet with an owner, direction, identifier and exception procedure for each dataset.
- Products and variants: identify how Shopify products match Business Central items, which system owns descriptions and prices, and how new variants are introduced.
- Inventory: agree on the Business Central locations included in online availability and how reservations, safety stock and fulfillment timing should affect the quantity presented to shoppers.
- Customers: define matching and creation rules, guest-checkout behavior and how business customers differ from retail consumers.
- Orders: map payment methods, shipping charges, discounts, taxes and currencies to the Business Central processing model.
- Fulfillment and returns: define who ships, when tracking is available, how partial shipments are handled, and how exceptions reach the right person.
These decisions are implementation requirements to validate against the selected connector version and store configuration. They are not a promise that every custom storefront behavior is handled automatically.
