Kitchen Output
Route price-free item labels or grouped tickets after sale commit and prove copy-level retry/reprint history.
Purpose
Route price-free item labels or grouped tickets after sale commit and prove copy-level retry/reprint history.
Role
Administrator configures routing; cashier completes the sale; supervisor retries or reprints failed output.
Prerequisites
Profile Kitchen Printing and Preparation Instructions as needed, fulfillment method with Send to Kitchen, category/item policy, active compatible Print Destination, transport readiness, and at least one routed item.
Enable / Configure
Create one active Kitchen Label destination for each physical station, such as Grill, Bar, Expo, or Packing. From POS Categories or POS Items, open Kitchen Routes and map the source to every station. A route selects Both, Labels, or Tickets, priority, and copies. Priority orders attempts; it is not failover, and every resolved station is attempted.
An item uses Kitchen Route Mode Legacy, Inherit, Add, or Replace. Legacy preserves the old scalar item/category fields. Inherit uses the category route set. Add unions item and category destinations and item route properties win duplicates. Replace uses only the applicable item bucket and requires at least one active route.
Scope precedence is terminal, store, then company. The first nonempty active bucket replaces lower scopes; scope levels are not unioned. Configure copies and ESC/POS, ZPL, RDLC, ePOS-Print, or WebPRNT compatibility on each destination. Kitchen output remains price-free.
Steps
- Create an Order and Fulfillment sale, select a method, enter the configured order reference and promised time, and add preparation instructions.
- Add routed items and complete payment.
- Verify one durable Print Queue row per physical copy and destination.
- Force one transport failure, then retry the exact Entry No.
- Perform a supervisor reprint and verify Is Reprint and copy position.
Expected Result
Money commits before isolated kitchen dispatch. Output shows the sale-stamped order caption/reference, fulfillment method, profile context where useful, destination, copy, and item instructions. It never shows prices, tenders, credentials, raw payloads, or snapshot JSON.
When Disabled
The kitchen/reprint control is absent. A direct dispatch call rejects a profile-disabled or unrouted path. A completed sale remains completed even when dispatch records a failure.
Records / Accounting
Verify Sale/Sale Line stamps and Print Queue Purpose, Source Document/Line, Destination, Copy No./Total Copies, Completion Generation, status, attempts, timestamps, and failure category. Kitchen output has no accounting entry.
Recovery
Retry frozen job uses the retained destination, transport, language, copy, request time, and JSON model; it does not read changed item/category/printer setup and does not repeat successful stations. Reprint current configuration creates new reprint rows from current routes. A blank Destination fans out; a nonblank Destination forces one station. Output can be Both, Labels, or Tickets. Never rebuild a completed sale to regenerate kitchen output.
Upgrade creates no Kitchen Route rows. Existing items remain Legacy and retained queue rows remain readable.
